On this page I'll talk about the band and some intresting things about them.

Linkin Park |
The Band Are:
Mike Shinoda - Emcee/Vocalist Chester Bennington - Vocals David Michael Farrell (Phoenix)- Bass Joe
Hahn - Deejay Rob Bourdon - Drums Brad Delson - Guitar
Forming the Band:
Xero was formed in 1996 by Mike and Brad.
Xero was made up of: Mike, Brad, Joe, Rob, Phoenix and Mark.
Mark left the band before they were called "Hybrid Theory" because things didn't work out, but he has always
been a really good friend of theirs.
Mark is now Taproot's manager.
The guys played around for fun and started getting attention from friends. So they set up a show at LA's
Whisky and got signed to Zomba Music Publishing their 1st show. They were with the bands: System of a Down and SX-10 (i believe).
They started getting serious from there but "labels weren't really catching on" so they changed a few things
and were looking for a new singer. About 2 yrs later or so Chester joined the band. That's when they changed their name to
"Hybrid Theory".
Chester had previously been in the band Grey Daze which had done pretty well and had some offers. (more
grey daze info on chester's pg)...so he met Mike and the guys through mutual friends in the industry. They met through
their law firm Miniet Phelps and Phelps.
The firm told "xero" that they had a guy in Phoenix (Chester) who might be good for the job and sent Chester
a demo. He was asked to sing/make up something to the demo.
He really wanted the job so he went to a recording studio to do it professionally. Within 3 days he had finished
recording it.The guys were surprised when Chester called and said he was done and would fly to S. California because it was
his birthday. He supposedly left people at his party or birthday and worked on the tape. They asked to hear the tape over
the phone first. Once they heard it,they were blown away and told him to fly over.
Once Chester was in the band, they focused on making demos and used their connections at Zomba to get their
demos out to people who would listen.
Eventually after a buzz started, Warner Brothers was interested and signed them to their label. Then "Hybrid
Theory" changed their name to "Linkin Park" to avoid legal hassles w/ another band who had the same name.
They chose "Linkin Park" because Chester used to drive by Lincoln Park in Santa Monica, CA (which was a middle
class neighborhood where lots of homeless people hung out) after practice and it grabbed his attention & the guys in the
band liked how it sounded. They changed the spelling so that they could buy the domain; lincolnpark.com was already taken
and too expensive to buy. They also think it's cool because there are so many Lincoln Parks that everywhere they play people
think they are a local band.
Also while Phoenix was with the band when they were "Xero" he left the band at some point to tour with another
band Snax (more info on Snax on Phoenix's pg). He is not the bassist on the Hybrid Theory EP, Kyle Christner was bass. Once
Phoenix finished up w/ the Snax tour he came back as a permanent member of Linkin Park. Kyle is now in the band Nose Dive.
So basically Phoenix was the bassist for "Xero", Kyle was the bassist for "Hybrid Theory" and Scott was just a temporary bassist
for linkin park until Phoenix came back. (Scott can be seen in the 'One Step Closer' video).

Chester |
CHESTER
Name: Charles Bennington
Date of Birth: 03/20/1976, in Phoenix, Arizona
Lives in: Los Angeles, California
State: Divorced from Samantha
- Chester and Sam were married on Halloween... Chester announced his 4 year anniversary to Samantha at
the 10/31/2000 Hollywood,CA show.
Chester has one child, a boy, named Draven. As mentioned on linkinpark.com : "Chester and Samantha had their
son on April 19th, 2002 at 1PM. He's happy, healthy, and cute as can be. The baby and parents are doing great. They thank
you for being so interested and they love you guys! The whole family will be on the road during the next Linkin tour!"
Chester went to Greenway Highschool BUT graduated from Washington High School in 1994.
Chester's Tattoos As of 8/03, Chester has 12 tattoos:
1) Upper Left Arm - (Pisces) An
original done by Jody from Club Tattoo in Tempe, Arizona. The color was done by Wes from Club Tattoo as well. This was Chester's
1st piece ever.
2) Upper Back - (Six arms spread out) Done by his friend, Derrick, in Arizona. It was Derrick's
interpretation of Chester on stage. He said that Chester had an overwhelming power to take over the audience and pull them
in and he thought that Chester needed more then two arms to do that so he gave him six. The placement of his backpiece was
orginally supposed to be around his diaphragm extending from his belly button but Samantha didn't want to look at that every
day of her life.
3) Lower Back - (Linkin Park lettering in old English) Done by Jeff Tilman from Tattoo Deluxe in
California. Chester made a bet with Jeff that if Linkin Park went Platinum he would do his lower back for free. Supposedly
this tattoo is not done, it's also supposed to have dragons as well.
4) Upper Right Arm - (Japanese Coi Fish) Done
by another friend, Wookie, from Club Tattoo in Tempe, Arizona. It's an orginal that Chester drew.
5) Lower Left Calf
- (Hybrid Theory Soldier) Done by Dee from Jacksonville, Florida. You can watch Chester getting this tattoo done in his
dressing room of the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida on the Frat Party DVD. Dee has become a good friend of Chester's (he's
a guy by the way) and did this piece for free. Chester did this tatoo on a whim and didn't discuss it with Samantha first.
She saw it though and "fell in love with it" but said "Don't ever do that again!"
6&7) Left and Right Arms - (flames) Done
by Jeff Tilman from Tattoo Deluxe in California. This is Chester's favorite piece and the inspiration for the flames coincides
with his upper arms (which are based on fish and ocean creatures) and represents his Pisces sign. Chester was born on March
20th, the cusp of Aries, a fire sign, so they symbolize both sides of his personality: fire and water.
8) Right Calf
- (dragon) Chester was born in the year of the dragon so he wanted a dragon on his right calf. Chester said that this was
the same dragon that "is on [his] wife's ass, only 42 times the size."
9) Right Finger on Left Hand - (engagement band) Done
by Derrick and designed by Samantha. She also has the same tattoo on her finger. The reason for the tattoo rings was that
Chester was too poor at the time to purchase a real ring and since his friend, Derrick, owned a tattoo shop he did the tattoos
for free. They had those tattoos done before Pamela and Tommy Lee had theirs done.
10) Pinkie Finger on Right Hand
- (birthstone in gold ring) That's Chester's birthstone for March in a gold ring, given to him as a gift for his 21st birthday.
11
& 12) Two dragons on his back on the left and right side.
Chester is very picky when it comes to his tattooists.
Chester got his first tattoo at the age of 18.
Chester's tattoos tell a story and have meaning to him.
"Tattoos are permanent and a lifelong commitment, the same as marraige. I figure if I'm gonna make a lifelong
commitment with a person then I need to respect their boundaries. I've actually discussed every piece I've had done except
the first because that was done before I met her. But at the same time I'm still my own person and I wanted to get the album
cover done and I didn't discuss that with her. She saw it and fell in love with it but she said 'Don't ever do that again!'
I'd definately recommend tattoos for everyone, but just respect yourself and respect the idea of what you're doing to yourself."
- Chester
"Tattoos exude pain and pleasure all at the same time." - Chester
Before Linkin Park's success, Chester didn't want to go too overboard with tattoos because he knows that
no matter how stupid it is for people to pass judgement on his tattoos, he knew it would happen and he needed to keep a job
and make money. Now that he has money though, he will do what he wants, as long as Samantha is cool with it.
When Chester was young, he'd sing around the house, dreaming he was the fifth member of Depeche Mode.
Chester has been known to moon people.
Chester says that Stone Temple Pilots had the most influence on his career. He first saw them when he was
14.
Chester won a bet that if Hybrid Theory went gold in the US by Christmas 2000, he would get the Stone Temple
Pilots Platinum display. He slept with it in his bunk when he won it.
Chester is from Phoenix, Arizona. He lives in the LA area now.
Chester says he was a geek in high school.
Chester thought Aaliyah (RIP) was hot.
Thanks to his brother (who's 13 yrs older) Chester was influenced by bands like Loverboy, Foreigner and Rush.
Chester used to enjoy the hip hop genre (acts like the Sugarhill Gang and Slick Rick) between the ages of
10 and 14 before delving into the punk rock scene.
The first album that made an impression on Chester was the Misfits.
Chester's first instrument was the piano.
Chester has his own "unique" thoughts on religion.
Chester's defining moment, early in his career, was when he vomited on himself and some fans to finish the
show.
Chester's career highlight so far is making the "One Step Closer" video.
Chester's favorite albums are Black Celebration, Purple, Zeppelin #4.
Chester's musical role model is Robert Plant and Scott Weiland.
Chester's greatest obsession is his music, which he started at age 13. He kept practicing until it hurt and
he could sing how good he does now.
Chester will never part with his guitar.
Chester can't imagine being on the road without lubricant.
Chester is a complete sucker for good beer.
The latest record (as of oct '00) Chester bought was STP #4.
The strangest request Chester ever got from a fan was to have his clothes.
The riskiest thing Chester has ever done was join the band.
If Chester could be someone for a day, he'd be Orgasmo.
If Chester could repeal one law it would be the legalization of marijuana.
If Chester wasn't a musician right now, he'd be "an Average American doing average American things."
Chester has two dogs: an Australian shepherd and a Rottweiller / Labrador mix.
Chester once road a snow saucer down a cliff and went headfirst into a brick wall. He had to get 47 stitches.
Chester had a couple of friends commit suicide when he was growing up. "I also lost a friend in a tragic
freak skateboarding accident. He was skateboarding down this little hill, hit a pebble and hit his head just right, and it
was over. It can happen to you a million times when you're a kid, you fall down and hit your head-he just happened to hit
the wrong spot."
Chester owns every Madonna record on the planet.
Chester's top five albums are: 1)Fugazi, 13 Songs 2)Al Green, Greatest Hits 3)Led Zeppelin, IV 4)The Beatles,
the White Album 5)Stone Temple Pilots, Purple
Chester is the only member that needs a carrying-kit cargo case for his wardrobe. He's got shoes that go
with every outfit, his underwear has to match his outfits, his socks have to match his shoes and his pants-everything is a
very big deal to him.
In airports Chester has to take off all his metal spike bracelets, etc and he has a little bag or something
that he arranges them all on. They must be in the same place every time.
Chester likes the movie the "Fight Club".
Chester likes to cook.
Chester's previous day job was as a coffee barista.
Chester has been reading the Anne Rice 'Vampire Chronicles' series and "Hannibal," which he says is "an amazing
book."
Chester has become addicted to 'Tony Hawk II', the second Tony Hawk skateboarding game...while on the tour
bus.
Chester's a fan of the Phoenix Cardinals football team.
A good night out for Chester, back in Phoenix, is to go to a place like Axis Radius for dancing or Club Rio
on Thursdays, for 25-cent draught beers.
Chester says Mr Hanky the Christmas Poo is the cartoon character that represents him best.
Chester's most poignant moment was getting married.
Chester was been sexually abused as a child and addicted to coccaine as a teen.
Chester has done some radio ads for something called CAPP, whose intentions are to help sexually abused boys.
Chester says he sees the fans as fans and not as an oppurtunity to have an orgasm.
Chester says he gets a hard on when fans sing along so he has an erection for the whole show.
Chester's brother taught him to sing 'Hot blooded' when he was 2 and learning to talk and taped him when
he was doing it. This tape is still somewhere but he says its lost. He told a kid about this because he had nothing clever
to say and is amazed that everyone around the world now knows about it and everyone asks about it.
Chester needs glasses but takes them off on stage so they don't fall off. Without them he can't actually
see the front row.
Chester and Samantha have designed some clothes for Replicant Clothing, the company owned by Korn's Head
and Orgy's Ryan Shuck. "Basically, the idea of the business was to see if some of their friends might want to do some 'signature'
stuff. Ryan asked me if I was interested a little while ago. I never had any prior experience in something like this, but
I said I'd love to try. I started doing it, and now I'm crazy for it!" You can find these clothes on Replicant's site or at
stores like Hot Topic.
Chester's first band was called Grey Daze in 1993.
Grey Daze was actually pretty popular and getting airplay in the Phoenix, AZ area but they never got signed.
Eventually Chester got tired and had to move on.
Chester was also upset that he was writing the lyrics by himself while all the band members took credit.
There were other personal differences between Chester and Sean Dowdell as well. Sean is no longer in the band; he is a tattoo
artist.
All issues put aside, Chester was going to reunite with Grey Daze on September 7, 2002 at Dodge Theatre in
Arizona to raise money for his friend Bobby Benish, who has a brain tumor. Other bands that were going to play as well were
Phunk Junkeez, Pokerface, and Gift. However due to Linkin Park's new album recording schedule, this show was postponed. Here
is a comment that Chester made in regards to this: "It’s very unfortunate that we are having to postpone this concert,
but our management has pulled everyone back from vacations or other various activities in order to meet our recording obligations.
However, I will continue to help Bobby and his family during this difficult time. I’d also like to thank the fans in
Phoenix that were willing to support me in this endeavor."
In Greenway High School (Phoenix, Arizona), Chester was in Thespian Troupe number 3297. Chester was also
in the thespian society. Outside of the green room (which the theatre teacher rebeliously painted purple) Chester painted
a mural free hand of the 2 drama faces, on the side he wrote Chester Bennington '93.
Chester did a song with DJ Lethal (Limp Bizkit) as well as the Visionaries. As of 4/18/03 they have still
not been released anywhere. Chester also did a song with Cyclefly, called 'Karma Killer' which is on Cyclefly's cd and sang
a song written by Jonathan Davis called "System" which is on the Queen of the Damned Soundtrack.
Chester has divorced from his wife, Samantha on 2005, because (has she cited) there was "irreconcilable
differences" for the split and is fighting for full custody of the couple's only son, Draven. Chester has accused his
estranged wife of trying to punish him by thwarting his visitation rights, stating, "I have every ability to care and nurture
him.".

Mike's guitar from the Crawling video is probably an ibanez rg120. Don't know for sure though.
Mike took classical piano lessons for 10 years. He got sick of playing classical music though and moved into
jazz then hip hop.
Before Chester joined the band, Mike would do his parts and find friends to do the other vocals.
Mike says Gizmo the Mogwai and Spike the Gremlin are the cartoon characters that represent him best because
every time he's not on stage he's Gizmo, he's a silly little shit, than he gets on stage and he's not anymore.
Mike's most poignant moment was getting a college diploma.
Mike says dark blue is his natural hair colour, the light blue was just a phase.
Mike thinks the Aphex twin 'Windowlicker' video is hilarious.

Brad |
BRAD
Name: Bradford Delson
Date of Birth: 12/01/1977, in Agoura, California
Lives: Los Angeles, California
State: Single
Brad is Jewish.
Brad went to Agoura High School.
Brad graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. He didn't go onto law school so he could
pursue his career in the band.
Brad is not upset about choosing the band over law school because he'd be studying right now instead of playing
in a successful band.
Brad and Phoenix were room-mates in college.
Brad calls himself "BIG BAD BRAD" or BBB, that's how he signs his name (BBB).
Brad likes MTV, in particular, The Real World.
Brad is a fan of Britney Spears and the rest of the band is embarrassed of him. (Since some people are
dumb, I must clerify this...its most likely that he doesn't like her music as he would never ever want to collaborate with
her..he's simply attracted to her like millions of other guys.)
Brad's first instrument was the trumpet.
Brad's first band was the Pricks in 1994.
Brad was also in a band with Rob. It was rock meets rap and funk, they were called 'Relative Degree'. They
practiced a lot, played a show then it fell apart.
Brad's defining moment, early in his career, was losing his pants at an industry showcase.
Brad's greatest obsession is sleeping.
Brad would never part with his toothbrush.
Brad can't imagine being on the road without all 16 personalities in the band.
Brad didn't want to go to Hooters to celebrate the success of the album because he was a good (innocent)
guy who never really did things like that; he suggested bowling; but eventually went with the guys to hooters.
According to Brad, the strangest thing a fan has ever requested was Linkin Park's pubic hair. Fans in the
UK actually brought tape to put it on. He previously said that the strangest request he ever got from a fan was to sign body
parts that shouldn't be signed (ie. boobs, which they don't sign anymore, lol).
Every Christmas (or almost every xmas) Brad and his family hold a dinner in an auditorium for the homeless
& Mike likes to help out.
Brad had a mullet (in high school/college?) because he was into thrash metal like Guns 'n' Roses and Metallica...and
the other long hair bands. He tried to grow his hair long but his hair grew out rather then down ..so he tried straightening
it with a hair dryer which didn't work so he them tried to straighten it with chemicals and "it died"...basically his hair
didn't look like it was supposed to, it was a mullet instead.
Brad used to color his hair different colors (ie./ purple) in high school.
Brad was voted Most Unique in his highschool yearbook.
Brad's career highlight so far was hearing "One Step Closer" on KROQ in LA.
The first time Brad heard 'One Step Closer' on the radio, it wasn't the full song, it was a clip of the song
on a radio spot, and Linkin Park were all in the van together.
Brad got his 1st guitar in (probably) 6th grade.
Brad does a lot of things in his playing that he does to try and define his own sound, one of which is using
harmonics. He likes to use harmonics because oftentimes they don't even sound like traditional guitar playing. "With the right
effects and the right performance harmonics on, a guitar can sound like a keyboard, or strings, and more rooted in an approach
that works well with the hip-hop and electronic influences in our songs."-Brad
Brad uses: Guitars: Paul Reed Smith Standard, Ibanez RB 7-string Amps: Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier,
Marshall cabinets Strings: D'Addario 10-gauge.
When Brad has 2 hours off (from LP stuff) then he tries to find a movie theatre and see whatever he can.
The latest record that Brad bought as of October 2000 was Incubus's new record.
In January 2001 he was listening to Taproot's 'Gift' and The Roots's 'Illadelph Halflife' a lot.
1st album that made an impression on Brad was Duran Duran's.
Brad's favorite album is Sunny Day Real Estate "Diary."
Brad's musical role model is Chester.
Brad's guitar heroes are: Dave Matthews, (Brad doesn't go for his tone but his musicality, his playing is
ingenious), Stef from the Deftones, Sunny Day Real Estate and other non-guitar driven stuff. Brad prefers to listen to non-metal
stuff like Dido rather then rock this way he can draw from a lot of sources and make something special.
If he was anyone on TV he'd be someone of Seinfeld 'cos he's got such a dorky sense of humour.
Brad used to see Incubus play when he "was like in 9th grade at The Whisky" a lot. Rob also actually went
to highschool with Incubus.
Although Brad will NEVER reveal the real reason he wears his headphones on stage he did say this in a shoutweb
interview: "I will say that it has something to do with the matrix. Not the movie, the actual matrix and being connected with
it. Mr. Hahn has been rubbing off on me. I'm starting to integrate sci-fi humor into my schtick. It probably isn't too popular
with a mass audience." LOL, "But I won't give him credit for the headphones. That's all mine."
Brad has a reputation for being pretty anti-social.
Brad played the Family Values Tour 2001 with a broken foot. He broke it while filming the video for
"In The End" in L.A. The stage set for the video had these little stairways with a ledge. Nathan Cox, who co-directed the
video with Joe, wanted him to jump off this 3-5 foot thing and he couldn't land it right so the third time he did land it
but he hurt his foot. Then he had to play on it the whole night for 16 hours. His foot healed but then LP played a Camden,
New Jersey show and he did something to it.

Rob |
ROB
Name: Rob Bourdon
Date of Birth: 01/20/1979 in Calabasas, California
Lives: Los Angeles, California
State: Single
Rob went to Agoura High School.
Rob is Jewish.
Rob's previous day job was as a waiter.
Linkin Park watch videos of themselves and Rob (according to Brad) never plays a part wrong, but he'll always
point out if something's not up to par. Rob is the practice-perfect technical guru of the band.
Rob started to play the drums when he was in elementary school (third or fourth grade) after he went to an
Aerosmith concert. His mom actually knows Joey Kramer (Aerosmith's drummer) so he got to go backstage and see the whole production.
When Rob got into high school he was into "a lot of funk" like Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, Tower
of Power.
Linkin Park is NOT Rob's first band. He started playing in bands when he was around 13 years old and he'd
play cover songs like Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' with his buddies. That's when he met Brad and they played for about
a year. It was rock meets rap and funk, they were called 'Relative Degree'. They practiced a lot, played one show and then
it fell apart.
Rob likes to play the piano when he has time. He used to take classical lessons when he was young and was
forced to keep going.
Rob says Princess Jasmine is the cartoon character that represents him best because him and Phoenix are like
a team in the band, being on bass and drums. so he's be Princess jasmine cos they fit together. (See 'Phoenix' info in
order to understand this comment, above this one)
His most poignant moment was getting gold plaques for Hybrid Theory.
In some interview one of the members of Linkin Park stated that Rob went to high school with Incubus, however
they also stated that Rob went to Agoura high school which Incubus did not go to. Incubus went to Calabasas high school -
Calabasas was the town Rob grew up in so that may be where the initial confusion arised.
Linkin Park most likely did attend high school with most of the members of Hoobastank who went to Agoura
high. They even played some shows (Brad, Mike and Rob) in the lead singer of Hoobastank's backyard.
Here's what Shiri Appleby said about Rob when asked who she thought would win the "Best Video of the Year"
award for 2002 MTV awards (I believe): "I know exactly who's going to win. And the winner of the Best Video of the Year is
going to be Linkin Park ("In the End"). Because my first date ever was with [Linkin Park drummer] Rob Bourdon in 7th grade."

Phoenix was raised in a Catholic family until 2nd grade... then went to a protestant church.
When they were first starting out Phoenix and Brad were college room-mates so they would drive to practice
together.
Phoenix has played lots of instruments including the violin and cello. In fact, he plays both those instruments
on the Reanimation album.
Phoenix says that prince Ali from Aladin is the cartoon character that represents him best, although he'd
say Simba but he's a lion so that doesn't work.
Phoenix was asked which LP member he would eat if he was stuck on a desert island and he said: "I don't know
who I'd eat first, but Brad would be last... he's all bone and grissle."
Phoenix likes and plays the Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 4 and 5 string basses.

Joe |
JOE
Name: Joseph Hahn
Date of Birth: 03/15/1977 in Glendale, California
Lives: in Los Angeles, California
State: Single
Joe has a split personality called Remy (For those who are slow - this was a joke. He doesn't *really* have
a split personality, it's all in good fun. Joe now denies it completely though - he's lying).
Joe or "Remy" talks in the beginning of "Cure for the Itch"
"Mr Hahn" constantly invents things in conversations with new fans who don't know LP very well and will
make up things about them that are totally untrue. "So beware" - Brad (He'll make up stuff when talking to old fans as well
so don't take everything he says to heart)
Joe gets bored very easily & has a dry sense of humor, so don't get upset if he seems uninterested or
he's not receptive to you (the fans). He doesn't really mean it in a bad way. (ie/ leaving the LPU meet and greet table and
walking down the line signing people's stuff so he can leave faster)
Joe came up with the concept for the "One Step Closer" video. He also was involved in the directing of every
other linkin park video. He's the official video guy for the band.
Joe and Nathan Cox co-directed Static X's video for "Cold".
Joe was into visual arts in high school and also pursued it after.
